I remember when I was young, those words didn’t hold a lot of meaning for me. I just heard adults saying them at this time of year, and stopped there. But now, especially if you work online, run a small business or have become a content creator who gets paid by the platforms, you know the grind and the struggle. Wishes for health, happiness and prosperity stay strong on the minds of all of us solo biz owners.
A Look Back: Copywriter Turned Web Content Writer
I stepped out onto the online landscape with copywriting services in 2003. Eased into the role over the course of the next few years, and then settled in with a full client roster which I kept up with until 2010. Then came my beautiful bouncing baby boy, and time away from work to learn the ropes and bask in the joys of motherhood and bonding with my sweet son.
In 2016, after being knocked around by the demands of motherhood and unable to serve clients in the way that I wanted, I decided change was in the air for my online content biz. Wordfeeder rose from the ashes in a new form — I began selling PLR. But I will tell you that I had no clue what I was doing, and setting foot into the world of social media was like being on the moon. I didn’t adjust easily. There was just too much going on in my life at the time, but I threw caution to the wind. I invested in aMember Pro for my site, and began launching PLR articles, earning from my craft and from tons of mistakes that I made along the way.
Bootstrapping Slow You Down, but It’s Okay.
One thing that stands out for as a hard lesson learned: taking the needed marketing and tech courses really does create a huge leap forward in your business. My bootstrapping meant I wasn’t investing in much as far as training. So my poor customers had to suffer each time I made mistakes — and I made a LOT of them. But, I’m not shy about making a comeback. So here I am in 2026, ten years in PLR, and applying all I’ve learned through my own errors.
Globally and in business, we all had a lot going on in the past five or so years. Massive changes swept across the face of internet marketing and online business as we knew them. Algorithm shakeups, legit emails getting banished to spammer purgatory, AI taking over the world… it’s all been a lot to bear, but guess what? I’m still here creating PLR articles. You can STILL use them to create faster, better content that makes you more money while doing far less work.
