How to Blog Using PLR Articles

Are you tired of writing from scratch? If you’re looking to get into niche blogging, or if you already have, but you aren’t enjoying how long it takes to create content, we have a solution for you. It’s the industry’s best kept secret to making money online the fast and easy way. Put your content creation on speed. Start earning from blog content, digital product selling, and more. Learn how to blog using PLR articles. We share all the inside tips right here!

Blogging with PLR: Choose a Niche

Whether you’ve already stepped out into the blogging landscape, or your blogging brainchild is just being born, you still have time to shortcut your content creation using PLR. That said: it all starts with a niche. Here are a few factors to consider when choosing yours.

  • Choose a favorite niche. Do you love to research, read, learn and share info from this niche? As a blogger, it helps to feel enthusiastic about the subject matter.
  • Check earning potential. Is there earning power in this niche? A great example would be self care. Lots of people want to start taking better care of their health, and you have tons of direction to go in as far as topics.
  • What about staying power? Is this niche trendy, evergreen, or a bit of both? If your niche is both, that’s great because it’ll have trending power AND staying power.
  • What about SEO? Is there lots of search engine potential in this niche? The more you post content and the better optimized your blog, the more likely you are to drive traffic for specific topics.

Choose Your Blog Topics

Search engines love well-organized content. If you’re serious about generating income from niche blogging, you’ll want to position yourself as an authority. That’s done with high quality content – valuable info your readers will be searching for, interested in learning, and can use in their lives.

Strategize your blog’s content topics in advance of posting articles there. To do this, take a look at what’s already out there. Check out what people are talking about on social media. Post different word combos on search engines to see what comes up. And use a keyword tool to discover what the most-searched topics are.

  1. Write down a list of topics you’ll want to delve into with your blog’s content. Think seasonally. Think sub-niches.
  2. Consider if these topics would also work well as a how-to guide (the same PLR articles that you use to create blog posts can be repurposed to make ebooks and other types of digital products to sell online.)
  3. Choose a handful of topics to focus on for an upcoming season. (Seasonal relevance matters when publishing niche blog content.)
  4. Name your blog’s content categories so you’ll have that as a starting point to build out and fill up your blog’s pages and posts.

Content Gathering Just Got Easier Thanks to PLR Articles

Now that you have a niche focus and some blog article topics to develop, you’re going to want to gather content. Before you heard about PLR articles, you were probably going to (or already did) write the articles yourself. This might feel enjoyable at first, but when you realize just how much high value content it takes to get a blog seen, you’ll rethink your strategy. At least some of the content you post should come from PLR articles. Why? Here are some advantages:

  • PLR that’s sourced from a well-reputed site will share useful information that’s been researched in advanced.
  • Good PLR articles will be web-friendly, easy to read, and intelligently written. That means  that the article text will flow logically and include good details that teach people new things about the subject.
  • PLR that’s well worth the investment (still sooo much cheaper than hiring a freelance writer!) will contain several articles in one package that all relate to one another.
  • PLR articles can be repurposed in any number of ways. You can post each of these articles one by one in their own blog post, all categorized under the same heading. Then you can turn the same content into an ebook to sell or share in your coaching packages, digital courses, etc.

Consider all of these facts when choosing which PLR article provider you go with, and which articles you choose to add to your content collection for later publishing. It’s always best to start out with strong content, and then edit, shape, retool, stretch, condense, and repurpose it as needed.

How to Refine Keywords When Publishing PLR

One of the most important changes to make to your PLR articles that you buy, is the keywords. You probably know from doing internet searches that there are more than a few ways to describe the same thing. To use the self-care example again, you could call it “self care” “wellness” “natural health” “personal fitness” – all of these terms more or less mean similar things.

So after you purchase a set of PLR articles on a topic of interest, take a look at your keywords or use a keyword tool to see what other words to use. Choose one phrase, then type different word combos of that as your article’s title, headings, subheads, and in the other important SEO spots where keywords hide.

Another way to refine keywords is to spin the niche. Let’s say you blog about puppy potty training, and those are major keywords for you. To drill down into this topic, you could post articles that drill down into different sub-categories of this topic. Such as…

  • how to potty train small dogs
  • potty training poodles
  • Doberman potty training
  • puppy potty training do-over
  • puppy potty training problems
  • other potential word combos that people might search for

Just be sure that whatever keywords you settle on replace what’s there in the PLR articles you order. Also check against existing keyword research to see what’s hot and what’s trending in the way of topics.

Post a PLR Articles as a Blog Post: Best Practices

After you’ve chosen topics and gotten a clue about keywords, it’s time to post to your niche blog. Start by grabbing a private label rights article from the pack of content that you purchased. Here’s the quick and dirty on that.

  1. Start a new blog post.
  2. Open the document containing the article text. Highlight all of the text, and copy it.
  3. Click on the post body area. Paste the article text into the space.
  4. Edit the article text. See how, below.

How to Edit a PLR Article into a Blog Post

PLR articles make a great niche blogging shortcut, but you must edit them. That’s because PLR is purchased by more than one publisher. To edit PLR won’t take as long as you might think. In fact, you can give existing PLR article content a facelift using just a few tricks. Here’s how to pull it off:

  1. Come in with fresh keywords. Prepare to replace your article’s existing keywords with these.
  2. Change keywords and rewrite the title, headings and subheadings of your article.
  3. Completely rewrite the article’s first paragraph.
  4. Switch around the order of points.
  5. Add or delete sections, as needed. Develop any areas that need more detail, by including extra info, anecdotes, quotes, stats, etc.
  6. Make it personal to the reader. If appropriate, include questionnaires, journaling topics,  or other interactive content.

Don’t Overlook SEO as Your Niche Blog’s Secret Weapon

Search engine optimized blog posts rank and get found on search engines by people looking for info on the chosen topic. Blog posts that are not optimized do not reach your ideal reader’s eyes. Take good notes on what I’m about to share below, so that your blog article will be well optimized.

  1. Make sure you choose a single, targeted keyword phrase to repeat in this one article. (Example: “how to blog using PLR”)
  2. Add that phrase to the title, headings, subheadings, first paragraph. Vary it up a bit so you’re not using the title more than current SEO optimizing tools recommend (Yoast SEO is a good one to use if your blog is created in WordPress.)
  3. Add keywords to the alt tags of your blog’s images (see more on image, below).
  4. If there are no existing lists within the article text, add them. Search engines love lists, including numbered ones and unordered lists (bullet points).
  5. Add keyword titles to any links you share in your blog post. Add internal links inside the post, that go to other posts or pages of your website.

Add Images to Your Blog Post

A good, well optimized blog post should contain original images. “Original” means it’s not a direct duplicate of an existing image that you found on a stock image site (though you can add those, it’s not going to kill your rank to have some in your blog).

  • Edit your images. To make your images original, edit them in Canva. You can add text, make a new image that contains different photos inside it, change the background, or add other graphic elements. Download your newly edited images and then upload them to your blog’s CMS platform in the media area.
  • Do an Image Dump. Add several images to your blog post – one original image to go with each heading seems to work well.
  • Optimize your images. Don’t forget to alt-tag your images with keywords. Vary this up a bit rather than just repeating the target phrase over and over. You’ll want to describe what appears in the image – this is supposed to be for cases where the image isn’t showing up, or for blind users of the internet who might have the image’s content read aloud to them so they know what it is.

How to Monetize Your Blog Posts

Monetization happens after all of the blog post’s content is created. It’s the final, key step in your niche blogging formula for success. Let’s quickly cover ways to monetize blog content.

  1. Add pay-per-click ad code, such as from Google AdSense ads.
  2. Add coded ads from networks like MediaVine.
  3. Add affiliate links to related products – niche blogs often contain Amazon product recommendations that contain the affiliate’s tag. Each time someone clicks or orders the product, you’ll earn a small affiliate commission. Over time, and with big traffic, these can add up.
  4. Add physical products that you set up for sale on your blog. For example, if you post about yoga on your self-care blog, maybe you link to a page of yoga accessories (can be your own brand, or affiliate links to another company’s products.)
  5. Advertise your services on your blog. Perhaps you work as a health coach, and the self-care blog generates interest in your services after people search for topics to learn.
  6. Link to and promote digital products. As mentioned, the same PLR articles you post on your blog can be edited and repurposed as a digital product (for example, a basic guide to yoga) that people order on your site and download instantly via email.
  7. Embed video content. PLR articles that you post in your blog can also be repurposed as video slide shows or tutorials. If you also run a niche channel, cross-post your articles to video format and then embed your video code from your TikTok and YouTube channels directly into the blog post. This will boost your traffic and visibility by a lot– and when you’re done, share the videos on social media as a paid content creator. More bang for the buck!

Proofread to Perfect, then Publish Your Post

Your final step in posting PLR articles as blog posts is to proofread and then hit publish. Keep the below tips in mind when doing so:

  • Give your article text a run-through. Did you use shorter sentences that are easy for the average web surfer to understand, and retain the information?
  • Is the article well-organized? Did you divide into headings and sub-headings?
  • Did you include SEO-friendly lists (ordered, and unordered bullets?)
  • How’s your spelling and grammar?
  • Did you write to the ideal customer’s tone, and add a few colloquial phrases to balance professional and authoritative with friendly and personal?
  • Go for one final proofread, then hit publish.
  • After your article goes live, read it from the outsider’s perspective. Anything sound off? Do all links to go the right place? Did you slip in those keywords? Read a few more times. Make your final tweaks… and you’re good to go.
