Breaking Down Your Keywords as a Coach Online

You may have heard about keywords. You’re aware that you have to fit these into your online publishing and marketing so you can attract more coaching clients.

This isn’t as complicated as you might think. I’m going to tell you a little secret as to how to find out your keywords.

Wondering What the “Hot” Coaching Topics Are? Here’s a Quick Way to Find Out…

Spy on hashtags.

That’s the simple answer. Look at the hashtags. A lot of people have a misconception about hashtagging. They think hashtagging is a fun way to squeeze in a joke; and yes…  hashtag humor has its place.

But that’s not the real power of hashtags. The real power is that if you’ve been sneaking a peek at other coaches, attorneys and psychologists online wondering how to get where they are… the hashtags are the key. To attract more followers who become clients and maybe even sell digital self-help products, look at the hashtags of other self help experts.

Next time you’re hunting around for information in your field and you come across someone prominent, someone who’s helped a lot of people… maybe published a book, commands a high income and really seems to have gained ground as an influencer online, look closely at their keywords.

Keywords are search terms. Any word or phrase can become a keyword once it begins trending. Hashtags that reflect those terms that people use when they’re hunting for an expert in a particular field.

Quick, Easy Way to Find Good Hashtags: Peek at Other Coaches on TikTok and YouTube!

One very effective way to discover your best keywords by studying hashtags is to search the video content platforms, like YouTube and TikTok. Just go and see what other people in your industry are talking about. Look at the titles of their videos and look at their hashtags.

Want to take your coaching keyword research a step further?

Here’s how to keyword-sleuth on the diagonal using hashtags: actually click on the hashtag of whatever social media site you are on. That will put you on a page where you can see other people in your industry who are using the same keywords. Visit each person’s page or website or feed of posts, so you can check out what topics they are discussing.

How do I know about hashtags and keywords? I’m a writer, and what I do is create both custom written and done-for-you content for life coaches and business coaches.

Life coaches, business coaches, health coaches and empowerment coaches come to Wordfeeder.com for drafts of content already written by either me or one of my team writers. They morph and shape the content to make ebooks, email challenges, courses, client learning materials, and blog posts etc.

Each month we come up with content that online coaches and experts can use to create digital products faster. Do we use hashtags as a guide? You bet we do!

Our content is fully customizable so the coaches can edit it and brand it anyway they like. Having a content draft like this helps coaches launch and sell to more people who can use their help and guidance.

How do you know what content to share with your audience? I ask the same question of myself every day as someone who writes for coaches.

I did a 6-month experiment on TikTok where I went around looking at what other people in the self-help field were talking about and sharing on their videos.

I’m going to give you some hot hashtag keywords right now to get you on the fast track to talking about what your self-help and personal development audience needs to know.

If you are a life coach, self-help coach, transformation coach or empowerment coach, pay attention to these keyword recommendations.

Anxiety.

Anxiety is a major keyword especially with the pandemic. People are hunting for ways to alleviate stress and anxiety after the last 2 years of germ paranoia and being constantly led around by government powers. I would argue that at the other end of the spectrum, you could talk about depression. But I feel like the anxious people are much more likely to take action and order your courses! 😉 (sorry, coaching joke there)

Abundance.

Abundance, abundance mindset. In the internet age people are trying to expand their consciousness and that includes understanding of how an abundance mindset can take you out of a limiting fear-based mindset so you can live better, love more, make more money and be happier.

Narcissism.

The amount of people that I am finding on the internet who are talking about narcissists is off the charts. Whether you believe that this is a legitimate classification or not, there is a massive profit potential in talking about and finding solutions to help people who believe they are in a relationship with a narcissist, have narcissistic family members or are dealing with narcissists in their workplace.

I just listed three of potentially many more subcategories of narcissism that you can use to attract more people to your list and sell them products or get them on your coaching roster. Narcissism is also huge for attorneys, so if you’re looking to swim with the big names in your industry and land more clients just start publishing tips for dealing with narcissistic people.

Codependence.

This describes a relationship that an empathic person shares with a would-being narcissist. You can’t have a taker without a giver, right? Massive amounts of people are getting on the bandwagon to learn and talk about what it means to be codependent in their relationships.

If you work as a therapist, clinical psychologist, life coach, transition coach, or in a related profession, you can be sure that your audience seeks a guidance on codependence in their relationships and how to cope.

Empath.

Empath, and the less popular term HSP or highly sensitive person are also terms that you’ll find people hashtagging like crazy. This again is your self-help audience of gentle spirits seeking validation with a label to call themselves and in search of coaching skills to help them deal with aggressive or assertive personalities.

Mindfulness.

Mindfulness has gained wide appeal in the self-improvement, positive psychology and coaching industries. Humans are realizing that being attached to technology is not healthy and there is science to prove its negative impact on the nervous system.

We can’t be mindful if we’re hooked into our computers and phones 24/7. People seeking self betterment want to immerse in grounding activities for their positive mental health.

Subcategories of mindfulness run the gamut. The possibilities for hosting themed months and launching courses and workshops is endless. You can guide your audience in learning about yoga, meditation, relaxation techniques, breathing techniques, massage, and a whole host of mindful, grounding activities like gardening, crafting, nature and much more.

Mental health.

I don’t ever remember mental health being a hot keyword until now. But I think this comes from what is becoming a more holistic approach to wellness. People now are realizing that physical and mental health are interrelated.

So whether you call yourself a health coach, wellness coach, life coach or some other kind of expert, consider adding the category of mental health to your blog and social posts. Try using these keywords in various forms to help drive interest in your services and digital products or other offerings.

Stress management.

Ever since a lot of people took their work virtual in 2020, there has been a growing need to manage stress as the chaos of one’s professional and home life come together. People were stressed before… now they’re even more stressed.

People are looking for solutions including how to better organize their homes, how to plan for seasonal activities, how to streamline communication, how to navigate relationships in a productive and fulfilling way. All in the name of easing and mitigating stress.

(Side note: If you’re reading this in mid-February, we have a done-for-you stress management course that you can be pleased and proud to put your name on, edit any way you like, and sell as your own digital product! These are just a few of many common phrases used within the self-help and life coaching community that you can start adding to your digital products and marketing to help attract the right people who will readily follow you, listen to your advice, share content that you publish and purchase your coaching packages and products.

Empowerment.

People don’t want to be controlled. They don’t want to be dominated in relationships. They want to be kind, yet not walked upon. They want to overcome the voices of doubt that stop them from living the way they were born to live and cloud their true purpose.

Empowerment is a major category in the self-help niche and you have a lot that you can do with this. In fact… at Wordfeeder have an absolutely amazing empowerment course with private label rights that’s waiting to become your next coaching product launch.

I wanted to emphasize that the hashtagging is your huge clue to see what other people in your field are talking about. This is so you can begin your own conversation with your audience and put your spin on the same topics of concern.

Where to add these and other self-help related keywords to get more people noticing your content and following you?

First and foremost, put them in the title of any blog page, video or social media posts that you publish.

Also add them to headlines that have been labeled with H1, H2 and h3 tags.

Choose these keywords to include in any digital products that you create such as ebooks, email courses, video learning series and such.

If you’re creating coaching content to work with clients one-on-one, you will also want to include words such as these to use as the focus of your learning materials and also as mentioned, to slip into the title and headlines of your self-published works.
