So you want to launch a digital product. Great idea! A digital course launch will help you reach your goal of creating income by sharing information that helps people. It can be a second income stream for your business, in addition to coaching hours.
Let’s explore the steps of getting buyers for your digital product. This is the short version. I have a longer, more detailed version for you here. It’s FREE when you sign up for a Wordfeeder basic membership and get on our list.
First thing you want to do is niche down. So if you haven’t started publishing some blog posts on a specific topic of interest, get going on that. How?
Create niche content to attract new subscribers who might want to buy your emailed course.
Where to get your niche content? You have several options.
- Write it yourself.
- Purchase it as PLR or private label rights or done for you content and edit it.
- Hire a writer.
- Post guest posts to keep traffic up.
Segment your list.
Use your autoresponder service like Aweber to set up an email list that is specific to this niche audience.
Next, you need a landing page.
On your landing page, you want to let people know that you have a great course in the works to help them increase awareness in their life and enjoy the benefits of this.
Start collecting subscribers.
For the articles that you’re publishing on your blog, you want to have a way to capture subscribers when they find your blog posts.
Now you need course content.
One really good option is done-for-you content. We have that at Wordfeeder. Use our content to fill up a course or challenge that you send out via email on said autoresponder service.
Continue to publish content and grow your list.
The list you’re building which targets a specific audience should eventually lead people to a course. Build your list for, say, a season.
Getting people to sign up for your course:
You need a sales page to advertise your course. On your sales page, include specific details about what the deliverable is, what the benefits are, how it helps people, any testimonials you have received and so forth.
The course buy button is very important.
At the bottom of your sales page you need to have a button so that people can click Buy Now so their automated purchase will take.
Now create a way for your buyers to gain entry into the online course.
If they don’t go from the PayPal button to the course entry page, they won’t receive the automated series of emails. So this is important.
Create a landing page that tells people to add their email to gain entry.
After you make the list, create a landing page that includes a subscriber form which lets people type their name and email in so that they can gain entry into the course.
Add your PayPal buy button to the course sales page.
In your page design editor, flip to the code side and paste the PayPal button code in.
Add special offer details on the sales page if you want.
Add any details like “Order now and get $10 off!” so that people will know the deal.
Set up your course material in a series of autoresponder emails.
When you’re ready to launch the course, you need to associate a series of emails in the autoresponder.
Each one should include some course material and maybe an exercise or journal prompt for your readers to work on.
Consider adding an upsell to each emailed lesson.
Launch your course!
Announce to your list that your course launch is kicking off!
Provide the link to the sales page where you’re selling the course. Let them know about any special offer you’re running.
Promote your course.
- One email message could be a set of tips, with an upsell to the course.
- Another email could be a list of benefits from using the course.
- The next email could contain testimonials from people who took the course and thought it was awesome.
- Then maybe you want to send a few reminders about the special deal you’re running.
Test drive your own course launch.
It’s a very good idea to work with a friend or to sign up for your own course if you can. This way, you can get your customer’s perspective. You’ll learn a lot by doing this!
How long will you run and promote your course for?
Decide how many days you’ll spend actively promoting your course and running a sale on it.
Your course should have a start and end date.
That gives people the incentive to sign up if they want to learn more.
